The problem
Dawn Taylor has been in property since 1986. Alongside her estate agency work she runs a company managing property portfolios for investors across the UK and abroad, from acquisition through lettings and compliance to sale, with off-market deals running alongside it.
She was moving her estate agency work to a new platform, and the move was set for the spring. That put a date on the identity: boards, stationery, social, voice, all needed before she could market a single property.
The structural decision
There was a bigger question in March: whether her existing company and her new agency identity should stay two connected brands or come together under one. It was a real question, and a bigger piece of work than a launch date allows.
The move could not wait for it. So the work started with the part that was needed under either answer: the identity Dawn trades under day to day. Boards, stationery, social, voice. None of it depended on how the wider question resolved, so the launch never waited on a decision that was not ready to be made.
What was not in the proposal
Running her social accounts was never in the original scope. Alongside the launch, she asked if I would take it on, and I did. Her residential microsite was not in it either. She asked me to do that too, and it is live.
I set the accounts up, ran them through the summer, and turned the approach into a written strategy. Running them day to day was not the right long-term role for me, so I recommended she bring in a dedicated social media manager, and handed the strategy over to her and her new agency.
How it ended
The engagement was designed to end, with Dawn owning everything it produced: the identity, the templates and the strategy. That is the point of it.
She has since come back for a second project.
